____________________________________________________________________________Maren is a member of the Real Estate and Financial Services Teams. She has significant experience in representing lenders and borrowers in complex real estate finance transactions involving multi-family developments, industrial parks, office buildings and shopping centers. Her experience includes transactions involving conduit lending, commercial mortgage-backed securities, mezzanine financing, construction and development loans, HUD, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, 1031 exchange financings, low income housing tax credits, and the defeasance of securitized loans. As counsel to financial institutions, she has provided legal advice regarding evaluation of risks, loan structuring and documentation for both real estate secured and asset-based financing transactions. As counsel to owner-borrowers, she oversees the formation of single purpose entities, negotiates purchase and sale agreements and facilitates the closing of transactions and associated financing.
Maren’s practice also focuses on representing landlords and tenants in commercial leasing transactions involving industrial, office and retail properties. She has negotiated a sizeable number of ground leases and represented tenants in connection with the financing and construction of improvements on ground leased property.
Maren has been designated as a LEED Accredited Professional by the United States Green Building Council (USGBC). The Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System is the nationally accepted benchmark for the design, construction and operation of high performance green buildings. As a LEED Accredited Professional, Maren is able to advise clients on the rapidly emerging incentive-based and mandatory regulatory requirements pertaining to green building and assist in evaluating and navigating the LEED certification process.
Representation of a full-service real estate investment firm engaged in the acquisition, management and sale of multi-family properties. Since 1997, we have assisted the companies formed by this investment firm with the acquisition, financing and sale of more than 30 properties ranging in value from $5 million to over $80 million.
