He has experience in representing wireless carriers, competitive local exchange carriers, incumbent local exchange carriers, and Internet service providers in their startup, growth and exit phases.
With nearly 30 years of experience in the communications industry—including substantial business management experience in addition to his legal background—Rich brings a unique perspective to his practice. He understands first-hand that business owners and managers need practical legal advice—advice that focuses on achieving business goals while helping to manage legal risks.
In real estate transactions, Rich helps communications companies and private land owners negotiate leases, resolve access and easement disputes, purchase and sell land, and negotiate right of way agreements. In regulatory matters, Rich has advised and represented wireless carriers on federal and state pole attachment law and regulations, including regulatory proceedings over rates, terms and conditions. He represents communications companies in franchise negotiations with cities and counties, and appears before local governmental authorities in code revision proceedings. Finally, Rich assists companies in the communications industry from startup to exit strategies, including business formation, financing, and mergers and asset sales.
While in business management, Rich negotiated joint venture and intercarrier agreements, and managed product development and sales efforts in the wireless communications industry. Rich chairs the firm’s Communications Industry Team.
